New1Depot Carbon Fiber BMW F30 Trunk Lip

There are many F30 trunk lip options out there and when it came to purchasing my lip, I searched around forums and many many authorized resellers to see what options are out there. I wanted something cheap. Of course people always say you get what you pay for, but I really just couldn’t justify spending $300+ just for a carbon fiber trunk lip. So I turned to the dreadful, most hated website for after market car parts. eBay.

People bash on eBay quality, but I’ve had luck in the past with after market parts for cars on eBay and Craigslist so I went that route. I came across a pretty decent looking lip from New1Depot and I looked into it because it was what I was looking for and it was under $100. It was $115.68 with shipping to be exact. It was also made in Taiwan and parts made out of there tend to be higher quality than parts from China. So I made the purchase.

I placed my order on a Sunday night and received the product on Tuesday afternoon. It was a same state (California) shipping route and it came within 3 business days as they typically do. As to whether they come damaged or not, that’s another concern. Here is how the package looked.

The box was a little banged up and had a hole in it like a rat chewed it up.

The lip was nicely packed in a hard-to-bend box. Here is the lip out of the box wrapped in styrofoam.

Now to the lip! First impression, I noticed the 1×1 weave was pretty decent. You’ll never find these weaves perfect even with expensive after market ones. No scratches, no cracks. It seemed to be in really good shape aside from the fact that there was, what seemed to be, loose material from manufacturing that got stuck inside. Whenever I flip it upside down I can hear material inside. Here are some macro shots of the lip.

The lip also comes with really stick 3M double sided tape. I cut it up into sections and installed the lip.

And finally, here it is installed. The fitment was pretty much spot on and pretty flush with the back of the lip/trunk area. There’s only about a 2 millimeter gap on each side of the trunk. I think the eBay decision worked out. I am really happy with how this came out!
