Amazing kit
The app contains a tonne of helpful tools and was very simple to connect to. Prominent improvements on the initial tank, displaying E54. If you’re aiming for a specific blend, the programme also includes an integrated fuel calculator and a tab for injector tuning capabilities.
In order to avoid maxing out the stock injectors when driving spiritedly, BJ advised sticking around E60.
I had the pleasure of interacting with Tom, the proprietor of APE, who was able to assist me promptly with a malfunctioning hose.

Great kit
The app was really easy to get connected and has a ton of useful tools within it. Noticeable gains on the first tank, showing E54. The app also has a fuel calculator integrated if you’re trying to hit a certain blend, and a tab for injector tuning capabilities.
BJ recommended staying under E60 for spirited driving to not max out stock injectors
Had the luxury of speaking to the owner of APE, Tom, who was able to quickly help me out with a faulty hose.
Before purchasing this kit, I know the guys at Build Journal have been testing this kit and as a person who is cautious, I purchased this kit and held on to it for 3 months before installing.
After reading the pros with minimal cons, I proceeded the install.
It’s fairly easy to install for an average DIYer, it’s a plug and play kit.
As a benefit for me, I blend 60% 91 octane and 40% E85 to blend and it still saves me quite a bit at the pump.
Instantly after monitoring the fuel blend on the APE app, I immediately felt the increase in power with zero sacrifice.
Fuel mileage has not changed for me so far. Also, I don’t drive my E46 often, so even at a blend, I don’t have trouble with cold starts.
Don’t recommend. Caused a TPS sensor failure and after running only two tanks of E85 my throttle actuator needed to be replaced costing me 1400$. Multiple certified BMW techs pinpointed this kit to be the definite problem. Hoping to return this product.
Hey Tory,
TPS sensors are mechanical issues and they would’ve failed regardless of the type of fuel. They are sensors that go at the end of the throttle body and actuator. There is also a third one in the foot well. All three sensors will go bad eventually. I hope you didn’t spend $1,280 in labor to replace your TPS sensors because they are about $40 each on FCP Euro and is relatively a feasible DIY weekend job. If you didn’t spend that just yet, we have a DIY guide to help you save some money. Before you conclude that it’s the APE kit, consider the possibility that your timing was just unfortunate that the TPS failed after you put on the ethanol kit. Also consider your mileage on the car. Lastly, I would highly recommend reading your DME codes for any other fault codes that need servicing. It can lead to a misinformed diagnostic of the issue and scapegoat a future install you do.
