I got an opportunity to take this 2015 Lexus RC F built by Gordon Ting/Lexus Tuned of Beyond Marketing Group and decided it was time to finally open it up to other makes and models. I cleared my weekend schedule and took out the camera for a photoshoot at a nearby airport. The rain was unfortunate, but the impromptu shoot turned out kind of nice.
Lexus released the RC models in the U.S. back in November 2014. This is basically the 2-door coupe version of the ever-so-popular IS line and it comes packed with a 5.0-liter (2UR-GSE) V8 engine pushing 467 horsepower. The RC stands for “Responsive Coupe” while the F represents Fuji Speedway, a famous and nostalgic race track in Japan.
The RC-F is a beautiful looking car, although I have some mixed feelings about the front grill design. Look at the top half of the grill. Notice they’re all a bunch of Lexus-like Ls? Marketing tactic or unintended design?
We’re probably going about 5 mph down the hanger strip, but apparently the custom GReddy exhaust made it sound like it’s going a lot faster. We got complaints to “take it easy” down this road.
Spoiler alert! This was probably one of my favourite features on the car. An active rear spoiler!
So much stopping power thanks to this massive 6-pot / 4-pot Brembo Brake setup. Stopping on a dime, in no time.
The custom made front lip is a perfect complimentary add-on for the aggressive front end. This was a one-off carbon fiber piece so I had to be very careful not to hard park into a curb.
The overcast setting really brought out the blue in the car. A white car with black wheels is called a “panda” theme. What about blue and black?
Can’t tell from this picture, but the headlamps also have an “L”-shaped pattern. There are 3 on each side. Seems to me Lexus is doing some kind of brainwash wizardry on us. Such an L-usive design!
The Lexus RC-F is a perfect balance of comfort and power. Especially with a set of tastefully selected modifications, this car was a definite head turner. I’m very responsible for a few broken necks so I apologize. Here’s a full mod list:
