I spend a lot of time thinking about the next photoshoot location. I’m always telling myself “next time I really have to find a better spot.” Maybe somewhere we can post up multiple cars on a nice empty asphalt with a split view overlooking the ocean or a closed off mountain pass with the sun rays bursting through the trees.
Every time I drive around, wether it’s around town or out somewhere far, I try to look out for that perfect spot to add to my SoCal Photoshoot Map page. Unfortunately, often times I’m too busy looking out for sketchy drivers on the road instead. Although that perfect spot would be nice, it’s not always necessary. For this shoot it proved exactly that. My friends and I went to a “whatever” spot after spending half an hour looking up spots and it actually turned out quite nice.
We met up at my friends house in the evening to do a little work on our cars before the shoot. I put on some 15mm spacers in the rear to fill my fender gap while my friend sprayed my front turn signal bulbs chrome to get rid of some “egg yolk.” I’m not talking about cracking some eggs. I’m talking about that ugly white corner lamp and orange bulb combination. After that little mod, these two Alpine White front ends became identical. Like exactly identical. CSL bumper with 1-piece front lip, black housing, clear corners, chrome grill, etc. Oh yea and also same exact wheels. Twinsies!
After the mods, we rolled out and started heading towards Santiago Canyon, where we were going to find a spot to pull over and shoot. I took this opportunity to have them drive along the side of my car so I can take some rolling shots.
We came across a T-intersection and found some road to pull over and park. For those that are familiar, this is the entrance to the infamous and creepy Blackstar Canyon.
